Christmas horror movies are out to prove that Christmas isn’t all about cheer and warm fuzzy feelings. Instead of Hallmark movies set in cute small towns, spend your holidays with Krampus, deadly Santa Clauses, zombies, and even some murderous children.

1. Better Watch Out (2016)

Better Watch Out takes place on a quiet suburban street where a babysitter has to defend the 12-year-old boy she’s watching from intruders. She soon finds out it’s far from a normal home invasion though. We’re going to bet she didn’t get paid enough for this.

2. Gremlins (1984)

A man finds the perfect special gift for his son from a shopkeeper in Chinatown. Although hesitant, the shopkeeper sells him the “mogwai” and warns him to never expose him to bright light, water, or feed him after midnight.

When all three wind up happening, the gremlins wreak havoc on the town on Christmas Eve.

Eva, a paraplegic, is gifted an unusual advent calendar from her friend Sophie. The quirky gifts are scary and get worse with each one.

4. Anna and the Apocalypse (2017)

During this Christmas musical, a zombie apocalypse threatens this sleepy town, forcing Anna and her friends to fight the undead.

5. Black Christmas (1974)

During winter break, a group of sorority sisters begins to receive anonymous phone calls. When one goes missing and a local girl is murdered, the girls start to suspect there is a serial killer on the loose.

Rare Exports is a Finnish fantasy film that follows a young boy and his friend who believe Santa’s tomb has been uncovered nearby. All while reindeer are being slaughtered and children are disappearing.
